Heidi Straube
Heidi Straube, M.Ed.,LPC, is a photographer and contemplative psychotherapist. Integrating her experience of twenty years in meditative practices, including Zen and yogic traditions, with twenty years as a career/life direction counselor and psychotherapist, she helps people to make life changes and transitions by honoring the deeper, spiritual self. She applies these same principles in her work as a professional photographer as she honors the spirit within through visual expression.
Heidi has exhibited in the international photography expositions, Recontres International de la Photographie 2001, Aix-en-Provence, France; and FotoFest 2000, Houston, as well as several local Houston venues. Her work reflects her special interest in natural light portraiture.
“The Inner Path of Photography”, a class designed by Heidi for photographers, both professional and explorers, leads participants into the mystical, deeper side of photography. Rather than worrying about f-stops, the best equipment, or the perfect exposure, participants are led in the inner process of shooting what one feels and sees, matching resonance with vision, and reconnecting to the pure joy of why we all love to photograph.
Drawing from her expertise as a life coach for individuals in life transitions and relationship change, Heidi also designed the class “You are the Artist of your Life,” customized for teens and offered to participants of all ages to explore their life goals and overcome barriers through photography, contemplation, and life direction techniques.
Heidi’s photo book, “I Dream of Galveston” captures the mystical beauty of the beach in fog, and the quiet ways people appreciate the sea.
She currently resides in Houston, Texas, and can be convinced to travel practically anywhere.
