The Inner Path of Photography

We yearn for the taste of the sacred…and through our cameras discover it, the world, and ourselves.

A New Year’s Wish & Song…

“Family Dancing” c. 2008, Heidi Straube

May you dance gracefully

on the tips of the waves
in the flow of the current
the sea of life

As we dive into the unknown of 2011

I wish you

the bliss of joy
the strength for challenges

memory of you

Life Reflections from Photography: PASSION

“Savannah & Sierra, after ‘Annie'”

“Be still when you have nothing to say; when genuine passion moves you,
say what you’ve got to say, and say it hot.”
– D. H. Lawrence

What’s so wonderful about this photograph?

The passion. The freedom of these young girls to feel deeply, enjoy, share their feelings fully.

Are you living with passion, or has it disappeared from your life?

Did you shut it down by choice? Or has it slowly slipped away, as you’ve resigned yourself to the day to day routine, convinced that one cannot be “responsible” and passionate at the same time.

Passion is vibrant energy; the expression of life.

Pain/joy, disappointments/triumphs: Allow yourself to feel.

You are alive. Live deeply.

My Latest Favorite Photo

I recently went to Vermont for my niece’s high school graduation. It was nice to be shooting family,  celebrations, people again, as I’ve been spending more time lately with seascapes.

I love this image, as it captures the feeling of joy, relief, and mother-daughter connection in an uplifting, flowing way.

Warm Wishes from Heidi…

“I wish I could show you when you are lonely or in darkness
the astonishing light of your own being.”
~ Hafi

Warmest wishes to you in this season of hope and love…

Life is full of changes…In fact, Life IS change.

May you look back on the past year
and find the beauty that was constant.

May  you pause today, now
and breathe in the goodness of the present moment

And may you step into the New Year
with great anticipation of the magic to come.

My deepest heartfelt wishes that your life’s changes
may contribute to amazing inner and outer riches
expand your possibilities
and deepen and uplift your soul.

– Heidi
